Stormwater runoff is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time.  An estimated 70 percent of pollution in the Great Lakes is attributed to stormwater runoff, which has been proven to carry a witch’s brew of contaminants from lawns, driveways, streets and rooftops into West Michigan waterways each time it rains.  It is also the largest contributing factor to sedimentation and erosion issues.

Rain barrels are the easiest and most effective way for home owners to reduce the impact of stormwater runoff on West Michigan’s lakes and rivers.  By preserving runoff on their property for lawns, gardens and other non-potable uses, home owners are reducing the amount of pollution introduced to waterways through streets and storm drains. Traditionally built from repurposed industrial barrels or trash cans, DIY and mass market rain barrels are not designed for aesthetics, usability or durability.
