Many property owners, planners, and municipalities make decisions about green infrastructure based solely on the cost of those investments. However, there are many values to those investments that don’t make it into the decision process. The Rainwater Rewards stormwater calculator allows the user to see the return on investment, including the value of the ecosystem services, or community benefits.
With as little information as the neighborhood type, the green infrastructure type, and square footage of the green infrastructure practice, users can calculate the return on investment, stormwater reduction, years to payoff, phosphorus reduction, and total suspended solids pollution reduction. These details can help make more informed decisions for the home, community, or municipality.
This tool was designed for small and medium-sized communities inside the Great Lakes Basin. The tool is simple to use, but WMEAC is offering trainings for current and potential Rainwater Reward users. If you would like to set up a training for yourself or your community, please submit your request below or contact Elaine Sterrett Isely at firstname.lastname@example.org.
