WMEAC and Grand Rapids Community College will be presenting the 2011 Earth Day Celebration on April 22 at Fountain Street Church in downtown Grand Rapids. The concert will feature the folk duo Seth & May along with Rachael & Dominic and Hawks & Owls.
Seth Bernard and “Daisy” May Erlewine are Michigan musicians who, after each performing on their own and recording many solo albums, have come together to create a captivating sound with rich vocal and instrumental harmonies. They play festivals countrywide and have been heard on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion.
Rachael & Dominic is the duo of Rachael Davis and Dominic John. Rachael began singing on stage at two years old and has been singing ever since. In her long solo career she released 4 albums. Her husband, Dominic John, is an accomplished bassist. They often play with Seth & May as part of the Earthwork Music supergroup, Starlight Six.
Hawks & Owls is a local bluegrass band known for its soothing Appalachian style string music with guitars, fiddles, and mandolins.
The 2011 Earth Day celebration will begin at 6 pm with food and a cash bar. Tickets are $15 ($10 for students) and available at Schuler Book Stores, the WMEAC office and online at liveatthefountain.org. For sponsorship information contact Daniel Schoonmaker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
