The World Affairs Council of West Michigan is hosting the 2012 Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion Series. The Council is well known for its Great Decisions Lecture Series, which focuses on influential international topics and American foreign policies.
The series consists of eight lectures, the first and last being of particular interest to the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and its members. The first lecture “The New Green is Blue: What the Oceans are Telling us and Why it Matters,” will be presented by Dr. David E. Guggenheim from The Ocean Foundation in Washington, D.C. His lecture includes information on the Great Lakes as well as oceans.
The final lecture entitled “Energy, Geopolitics: An Issue of National Security,” will be given on March 26 by Dr. James Bartis, a Senior researcher at the RAND Corporation. His lecture will focus on alternative fuels, managing greenhouse gas emissions, and energy security and foreign policy.
The lectures will be on Monday nights in the Performing Arts Center at Aquinas College during February and March from 6:00-7:15pm. Entry is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
