A Watershed Moment: Promised Land

On today’s episode we hear from Jen Shaneberger, Hospitality Coordinator at the West Michigan Environmental Action Council, who discusses the kick-off to the Environmental Film Series with a screening of Promised Land.

Promised Land will be the kick-off film in the second year of the Environmental Film Series. Typically highlighting environmental documentaries, this film is different because it not only is the first feature film that deals with hydraulic fracturing, but also features stars such as Matt Damon and Jim from the show, The Office.

Hydraulic Fracturing is becoming a lead issue in regards to the environment and our communities, both nationwide and locally. The film series offers the community a chance to learn about this pressing issue and also support the West Michigan Environmental Action Council. “How does this link to our everyday lives locally?” asks Shaneberger.

Promised Land will be featured at Celebration! Cinema North on Friday, January 4th. Doors open at 7pm and the show will start at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at wmeacfilmseries.org.
