Recycle plastic and earn money for your organization!

February 1st through the collection date, April 24th

Community organizations in Muskegon County can make money collecting #2 plastics as part of Cash for Plastics, a recycling drive sponsored by West Michigan Environmental Action Council, PADNOS, the Muskegon Area Recycling Network, and the City of Montague.

Organizations are to collect only #2 plastic containers, natural and mixed color. Items in the natural category are clear but can’t be seen into such as milk jugs. Items in the mixed color category are solid colors that cannot be seen into such as laundry detergent bottles. Labels and rings can stay on containers. Caps can also be collected but must be removed and bagged separately. All containers must be clean and crushed. Natural plastics, mixed plastics, and caps need to be bagged separately in clear bags.

All recycling needs to be brought to PADNOS, 259 Ottawa Street in Muskegon on Sunday, April 24 from 3-6 p.m. to be weighed. Natural plastics will bring fifty cents per pound, and mixed color plastics will bring twenty-five cents per pound. Cash prizes for the three highest amounts of plastics collected will be $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. Funds will be mailed to organizations within two weeks of the collection event.
