Grand River GreenUp
West Michigan Environmental Action Council and the Grand Haven Area Jaycees will be hosting the 2nd Annual Grand River GreenUp on Saturday, April 21 at Riverside Park in Robinson Township from 9 a.m. to noon.
Last year 300 volunteers came out to remove 5,820 lbs of trash and 940 lbs of recyclables from the Grand River near Riverside County Park in Robinson Township. Our hope is to expand this year’s event to cover more riverfront, activate more volunteers, and clean up more trash. This year's Grand River GreenUp is expected to have the largest impact of Earth Day events in the Grand Haven area in recent memory. Refuse collected from the river and its banks during WMEAC’s previous clean ups include plastic and glass bottles, plastic bags, tires, television sets, discarded clothing, shoes, roofing shingles, a discarded bed with mattress, fishing and camping equipment and many other assorted items.
