Due to the rapidly evolving challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak, WMEAC is taking proactive measures to help slow the spread of the virus. As a result, we are canceling all events through March 22, 2020. Our highest priority is the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, program participants, and community. If you have made a purchase or contribution for an event, staff will be in touch with you.
WMEAC is excited to be partnering with our friends at Virtue Ciders to host a Cider Rain Barrel Workshop! If you’d like to build your own oak rain barrel with us and learn about stormwater management it’s only $100. This workshop is limited to 10 participants. Communities can take action to manage stormwater and improve water quality. WMEAC wants to help West Michigan communities take this step by providing rain barrels and workshops on how to set up those rain barrels. Rain barrels have been proven an effective and easy strategy for managing community stormwater issues and improving water quality. Through its rain barrel education programs, WMEAC provides low-cost rain barrels to the West Michigan community as a means of addressing water conservation and pollution issues in West Michigan. All workshops include the necessary components to get your barrel working. You will need to purchase a “base” for your barrel separately (refer to rain barrel instructions). The workshop takes about 45 minutes. To get a rain barrel through our program, you must attend a workshop. We look forward to seeing you out there!
