Handlebar Heroes is an 8th grade team from Whitehall Middle School competing in the Lexus Eco Challenge and they are taking on the Air/Climate Challenge. The students are issue they identified is climate change and the effects this will have on the Great Lakes. The students are taking action and encouraging people to use alternative transportation and to do something healthy by riding bikes.
To really raise awareness about this issue, they have decided to do a Climate Ride (Independent Challenge) in the White Lake area. On November 19th, the team will be riding their bikes all the way around White Lake–from the Montague side of the channel to the Whitehall side of the channel. Loop the Lake, as they are calling it, will be a 13-mile commitment to a better future!
The Handlebar Heroes are raising funds through their Climate Ride with the goal of donating $1,000 to WMEAC to support the work we are doing in the community. If you would like to support the Handlebar Heroes as they inspire us all to take action and reduce emissions you can visit their Climate Ride Challenge page here!
