Voices of the Future: Featuring Muskegon Area Youth

February 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) and the Michigan Chapter of the Sierra Club will host Muskegon County students in a virtual kickoff for the upcoming program, What Future Will Muskegon County Choose? The groups have joined with Muskegon County libraries and bookstores to read the book, The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis. The authors, Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac led negotiations for the historic 2015 Paris Agreement. The book is lauded as a cautionary but optimistic tale on our changing climate and the fate of humanity.

Muskegon area young people will express their thoughts, feelings and ideas at a virtual kickoff with spoken words, poetry, art, brief skits, or videos. on what climate change means to them, and what will be needed to realize a safe and prosperous future for their generation. The kickoff, Voices of the Future: Featuring Muskegon Area Youth, will take place on Thursday, February 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The book will be read and discussed by groups in the months following.
