The IDEAL (Inclusion and Development of Environmental Allies and Leaders) Committee formed in 2014 by volunteers who were practiced in creating and implementing diversity, inclusion, and equity principles into organizational structures. The role of an IDEAL member is to guide, advise, and vote to successfully implement the IDEAL initiative to support inclusive, equitable, and diverse organizational practices.
While this is an inclusive and open committee structure, please schedule a meeting with Anne Marie Hertl, WMEAC’s Community Activism Manager, prior to attending. WMEAC aims to continue to maintain a safe space to facilitate trust, brainstorming, and progress.
The committee is responsible for hiring IDEAL scholars, recruiting new members, advocating for environmental and environmental justice, identifying best practices, holding accountability, and epitomize cultural competency.
