Women, Community & the Environment Series:

Advocacy Workshop, Hidden Heroine Awards and Keynote Speaker, Sen. Stephanie Chang

1:00PM – 5:00PM
Grand Rapids Kroc Center

The final day of the series will begin with advocacy workshops where participants will meet representatives from local non-profits who will provide information about their work and offer activities to learn about advocacy tools and try them out in a supportive setting.

Following the workshop will be the “Hidden Heroine” Award ceremony, where we will recognize women who have made significant contributions in advocating for our environment in West Michigan. The ceremony will conclude with a speech from Sen. Stephanie Chang, a Michigan native whose work has included working at the Grace Lee Boggs Center and community organizing. She served as a state representative, and was recently elected as a state senator. Stephanie has worked tirelessly towards education and justice reform and advocated for clean air and water. She will speak about her journey as an activist. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception hosted by the Progressive Women’s Alliance.

Tickets are available online.
