Manufacturers, Suppliers, Businesses Support Proposal 3

The American Wind Energy Association released a letter signed by 33 manufacturers, suppliers, and businesses from around Michigan, all endorsing Proposal 3. The ballot initiative calls for Michigan to increase its supply of renewable energy to 25% by 2025.

The letter addresses numerous benefits of Proposal 3, especially hitting on the fact that Michigan already has an abundance of resources to support an increase in renewable energy. Fossil fuels are currently imported, whereas renewable energy will be produced in-state, creating jobs and investment opportunities. Another benefit is the guarantee that fuel costs will not increase, but will always remain stable. In 2007, consumers in Illinois and Minnesota adopted a 25% renewable energy increase by 2025, and it is already evident that their energy rates have decreased.

This business owner does not summary Proposal 3 because it has no place in our State Constitution as an arbitrary and inflexible mandate with no accountability based on economic realities going forward.
