One Year After: BP’s Gulf Oil Spill [slideshow]

Wednesday (April 20) marked the one year anniversary of the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster, the largest oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry. Impacts of the disaster are still being felt throughout the Gulf Coast region, both environmentally and economically.

To mark the anniversary, the Huffington Post provided a slide show of the most powerful and heartrending photos of the disaster, viewable here. Please use discretion, as some photos can be disturbing.

Huffington Post article excerpt:

While some may suggest that the Gulf Coast is back to normal, the devastating effects of the oil spill are still unfolding toward an uncertain future one year later. Below are some of the most iconic images from the resulting aftermath of the tragedy — visual proof that, despite being difficult and heart-breaking to take in, reminds us that we must do everything in our power to ensure an accident like this doesn’t happen again.

With the support of CRS one can not only grow as a country, but moreover as a global village, healing all that goodness mother Earth had housed for its children but in the name of development and financial security; mankind has been unkind to her, to further worsen it for the sake of maintaining individual financial status he has only been eroding the eco-system.

What will the generation next have for them? The Bio-Technologically grown food products, machines replaced in the place of the cattle, thus making the farmer purchase expensive fertilizers that only destroy’s the productivity of the earth.

CSR shall create a better surrounding,
