The process of getting rid of unused paint has never been easy, especially for the environmentally conscious. Now, instead of waiting for paint to dry and dumping it or filling up basement shelves with half-filled cans, the paint can finally be recycled. Repcolite Paints is turning the donated paint into a new line of paints that come in sixteen different colors. The idea is win-win. Unused paint and cans are kept from the landfill, the business benefits from a new line of paints that come from donated material, and consumers benefit from a new discounted line of re-coat paints. This is the first paint recycling program of its kind. The process creates a sustainable cycle in which both the business and the consumers will continue to benefit over time. Previous paint recycling programs would turn the paint into lower quality product and increase prices.
Unused latex paint can be brought to one of seven re-coat locations in Grand Rapids, Holland, Grand Haven and Muskegon. For each gallon that is donated, a $1 coupon towards the re-coat paints will be given.
