Stormwater Photo Journal: Along the Grand River 3

These photos were taken near West River Drive and Belmont Avenue on May 2 after nearly six inches of rain fell on Grand Rapids over a 10-day period, an event that happens every 10 to 25 years.  This brought the level of the Grand River to over 16 feet; four feet higher than normal for this time of year.

Residents must park their cars down the street from the flood waters. Then they take row boats or wear waders to reach their homes. Click image for a larger size.
