Thank you Sandy Hansen

Sandy Hansen

WMEAC lost a good friend recently. Sandy Hansen, a long time environmental activist and volunteer passed away January 13 after a brief struggle with cancer. Sandy’s love of the environment is part of the legacy she leaves her children and grandchildren whom she taught to appreciate nature.

Sandy was an outstanding volunteer for the West Michigan Environmental Action Council for many years and she and her husband Dick have been extremely supportive of WMEAC’s programs. We want to express our deepest condolences to the Hansen family for their loss.

What a joy to know Sandy and how wonderful it was to work with her when she was a volunteer at WMEAC. I will sincerely miss the surprise encounters we had of recent years with huge hugs and smiles, all wrapped up in her signature warmth and great heart. My deepest sympathies to Dick and family. There are just no adequate words to describe how she touched those around her, and I count myself very lucky that my path crossed hers. Sandy expressed her love of nature through the many, many ways she supported the West Michigan organizations charged with its care, and I, like so many, will always be grateful to her for the time she shared, her spirit, and endless generosity.
