Volunteers needed for Rogue River water quality assessment

Are you interested in how water quality is monitored in streams and rivers?  Or maybe you just like bugs?  Either way, your help is needed at the Rogue River stream insect monitoring event October 1st.  Volunteers will work together to collect aquatic insects at different sites along the Rogue River, then meet at the Algoma Township Hall to identify the insects collected.  The diversity of aquatic insects collected will be used to score the relative quality of the stream in that area.

If you’re interested in helping out, contact Nichol De Mol of Trout Unlimited at 231-557-6362 or ndemol@tu.org.  You will meet the group at the Algoma Township Hall at 9:00AM Saturday, 10/1/2011.  The collection and identification process should take until about 1:00PM, with lunch provided for volunteers.  If you have waders, you might want to bring them!
