Are you looking for ways to bring you and your family outside, as well as to get involved in the local community? Then WMEAC has exactly what you are looking for. There are numerous events that you can get involved in.

May:

On May 11th, join the final discussion of the WMEAC’s 2021 virtual Eco-Action book chat, facilitated by WMEAC’s Lakeshore Outreach Organizer Tanya Cabala. The group is discussing Bill Gates’ How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need.” Please email Tanya at tcabala@wmeac.org to be placed on the mailing list.

June:

On June 2nd, WMEAC’s Environmental Book Club will be discussing The Future of Packaging: From Linear to Circular by Tom Szacky. This book club is hosted on the first Wednesday of each month virtually. The book club is sponsored by Books & Mortar Book Store, 955 Cherry Street SE, Grand Rapids. Purchase your book at Books & Mortar to get a 10% discount!

On June 10th and June 19th, WMEAC is sponsoring Rain Barrel Workshops as part of the LGROW Spring Forum’s Block Party at La Casa de la Cobija and at Southeast Market. Bring your entire family to make a rain barrel to capture water that drains off your roof as it rains! You can use the collected water to water your plants, your garden, and your landscaping. Rain barrels are a great way to conserve water.
