Mayors’ grand River Cleanup
20th Anniversary Celebration & Kick off

Join forces with hundreds of volunteers to clean up the Grand River along downtown Grand Rapids. WMEAC will provide you with gloves, trash bags, and the enthusiasm to keep our shared waters clean and enjoyable for all. This event is FREE and is open to all ages, abilities and identities. We will start at 8am with a light breakfast, spend a few hours cleaning up litter and regroup to celebrate with a complimentary lunch. Non-alcoholic refreshments will be available to all volunteers who participate and a variety of local brews will be available for those over the age of 21.

grand river cleanup campaign
sat, september 9th – sat, september 16th
From Monday, September 4th through Saturday, September 16th, WMEAC will provide supplies to volunteers throughout the communities of Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Grandville, Walker, Kentwood, and East Grand Rapids to remove trash from the tributaries and storm drains that feed into the Grand River as well as from the Grand River itself. So if you can’t join us on Saturday, September 9th for our Kick-off- there are still plenty of ways to stay involved with Michigan’s largest river cleanup! You can:
- Recruit a group of volunteers (5+ individuals) and sign up to adopt one of our Cleanup Sites
- Stop by the WMEAC office during our campaign to receive FREE trash bags and gloves to clean up your street, sidewalk, or storm drain at home.
- Attend the Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds’ Jamboree and sign up to receive a WMEAC rain barrel for your home
- Sponsor our Cleanup and receive the many benefits of becoming a WMEAC business member or individual donor
